The ECWG 2017 Summer Picnic was held Saturday morning July 15, at the U.S. NATIONAL ARBORETUM, Washington, DC. An illuminating tour of the NATIONAL BONSAI & PENJING MUSEUM was provided by a curator of the collection, Michael James. His robust voice ensured that our group of 25 members, family and guests, had no problem hearing the interesting facts put forth on the history and cultivation of these unique specimens.

Following the tour, we gathered for lunch at tables with umbrellas, and cool shaded walls on the terrace of the Administration Building. For dessert, ECWG picnic organizers prepared and served banana splits to order and homemade cookies. It appeared that good time was had by all!
