ECWG Bombash 2017 Report
The 2017 Explorers Club Washington Group Bombash took place in Philadelphia from 29 September to 1 October 2017. Organized by Arnella Trent MN10 as a joint program with the Philadelphia Chapter, forty-two members and guests joined for a remarkable weekend of history and camaraderie centered around Independence Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Members from the George Rogers Clark, St. Louis and NY Chapters joined for the events. The weekend began with an informal dinner in Little Italy on Friday evening, followed on Saturday by a guided walking tour of Independence National Park, lunch at City Tavern, and a tour of the Museum of the American Revolution. The day’s activities concluded at Union League with a reception and lecture by Senior Fellow and Historian at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, Robert Peck FN83: A Glorious Enterprise: Two Hundred Years of Exploration and Discovery at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Philadelphia. As we left, all agreed that the weekend was a total success – and that we should get together with our Philadelphia colleagues again soon!
