The Explorers Club Washington Group (ECWG) welcomes explorers, scientists, and adventurers from across Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. With over 200 active members, the ECWG is one of the largest and most active chapters of The Explorers Club, founded in 1904 in New York City to advance field research, scientific exploration, and the enduring instinct to explore.

To become a member of the ECWG, individuals must first join The Explorers Club through its headquarters in New York City, NY. Once accepted, members residing in our region are automatically eligible to join the ECWG.

Those interested in getting to know our community are encouraged to attend one of our monthly happy hours or other local gatherings—no membership required. These informal events provide a welcoming opportunity to meet like-minded explorers, learn more about the Club, and experience the camaraderie that defines our chapter.

The ECWG also welcomes inquiries from members, prospective members, and partner organizations interested in exploration, field science, and discovery.
